What is CB certification?

Last Updated on2024-12-10 07:50:54
CB certification is an international safety certification system for electrical products, known as the CB Scheme (IECEE CB Scheme), managed by the International Electrotechnical Commission's electrical product certification organization (IECEE). CB stands for Conformity Testing and Certification Bodies. The CB Scheme is an international certification system that allows mutual recognition of safety test results and certificates for electrical equipment among participating countries. This means that manufacturers can use CB test certificates and reports to apply for safety certification in multiple countries without the need for repeated testing in each country. The CB Scheme covers a wide range of electrical equipment and electronic products, including household appliances, information technology equipment, power supply equipment, and measuring equipment. When a product obtains CB certification, it is considered to comply with international safety standards, such as IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) standards. Manufacturers can submit products for testing to authorized testing laboratories (CBTL), and upon passing the tests, they will receive a CB test certificate (CBTC) and report (CBTR). These documents can be submitted to certification bodies in other IECEE member countries to market the products in those countries. CB certification helps manufacturers simplify international trade processes, reduce the cost and time of repeated testing and certification, and accelerate the entry of products into the global market.
