Must the MCU connected to a module use 3.3 V power?

No. It is more convenient to use a 3.3 V MCU because you will need to convert the serial interface level if the MCU does not use 3.3 V power.
Modules can be directly connected to 5V level, see the document for details:

The Tuya module is powered by 3.3V, while the MCU is powered by 5V. Do the TX/RX voltage levels need to be converted?
Is the RESET pin connected to nothing when it is empty, or connected to a 3.3V power supply through a 10K resistor?
